A hundred years of soil and family.

Mansouria Retreat is a working family farm founded in 1926 by Engineer Mahmoud Khalil. Today, three generations later, it's a countryside sanctuary open to guests — 30 minutes from the Pyramids, and a world away from the city.

What we're about

To keep the land alive. The farm was reclaimed from a sandy mountain over a lifetime of work; we've spent a century tending it. Opening it to guests — to stay, eat, celebrate, and slow down — is how we carry that work forward.

How we do things

From the earth to the table

Everything we cook starts on the farm — the mish aged in our zareeba, the honey from our hives, the greens from our hydroponic greenhouses. No shortcuts.

Personal, every time

We reply to every inquiry ourselves and confirm each booking by hand. Small means we can remember your dietary needs and the kid who loves the goats.

Heritage without museum-keeping

The kanoon is still lit every lunch. The Arabian horses still train in the back paddock. Tradition lives here because we still use it — not because we're performing it.

Kind to the land

Closed-loop composting, hydroponics that use a fraction of the water, grazing rotation across the squares. Our grandfather started this; we keep it going.

The family

Three generations stewarding the same 50 feddans — with the next already learning the land.

WMK

Wagih Mahmoud Khalil

Founder · 1926

Chief engineer, graduate of the Egyptian Polytechnic. Bought 150 feddans of sandy mountain on the edge of Giza and — with a Decauville railway, a herd of bulls, and a decade of labour — levelled it to the canal.

EIIMK

Eng. Ihab Ibrahim Mahmoud Khalil

Current steward · 3rd generation

Third-generation custodian. Modernised the farm with hydroponic greenhouses, a K9 academy, and an Arabian horse stables — without losing the rustic character that made the land special.

The next generation

Three children · growing into it

Learning the orchards, the animals, the kitchen, and now the events side of the business. The family's tradition is that you put in a season of real work before you get to plan.
